THE POWER-POD is the most versatile and reliable remote head available in the film industry.
It is the one that the operator would build for himself - one that delivers exceptional
performance and smooth response; one he knows he can trust.
The modular POWER-POD System allows the operator to re-configure the
size and shape of the head in minutes. It can fly an Arri 35 Type 3 through a
car window, or rotate a Moviecam Super with a 1 000 ft. mag and a 1 0: 1 lens through
continuous pan and tilt ...
The POWER-POD has a broad tolerance for off-balance loads.
It can capture difficult shots in impractical or treacherous environments.
With the crew at a safe distance, POWER-POD makes dangerous moves that would
ordinarily be abandoned. When conditions are less than ideal, the POWER-POD
System always delivers.
The POWER-POD MK V Head is an indispensable workhorse in the film industry,
producing award-winning footage under the most difficult conditions. In the wild,
in sports venues, over hostile terrain, the POWER-POD brings home the 'impossible shot'
every time.
The pan and tilt units are separate gearboxes, linked by risers that can be re-configured
easily, for a variety of applications.
The camera plafform can be adjusted up or down from the front. Two BNC sockets at the camera
platform permit two video links to the camera from the control point, by means of slip rings.
An additional socket is provided for power or Multiplexer use.
Both pan and tilt gearboxes are driven through five high
tensile steel studs, eliminating any possible play after heavy use.
An additional 1/2" safety bolt runs through the center of the driving studs, and will hold the mainshaft together in the event that sudden impact damages the studs. Each gearbox module encloses its own motor and drive system, including slip rings. This design reduces vulnerability to water and dust.
The operator can start and stop gracefully with these gearhead style wheels. They
feature balanced, fully machined cast handles that lock into place with central collets.
There is an adjustable fluid drag control, calibrated for easy repeatability.
Both pan and tilt have a fully adjustable speed range control.
The Joystick control system offers the best combination of control and 'feel'.
Perfect for use with ENG Video cameras, this unit allows one-man operation of pan/tilt,
zoom, and focus.
The Zapper is a hand held power pack that will control the pan and tilt functions on its
own, to facilitate camera set-up or use when 'wrapping' the head.
This unit, developed for the POWER-POD, is air-cooled and usually needs no auxiliary fans.
It will operate off of mains 220-240 volt, 110 volt AC (direct feeds), or a pair of 24
volt batteries. Maximum draw is 5 amps; average is just over 1 amp. Battery inputs are
diode protected. Battery failures are indicated by red LEDs.
The POWER-POD Multiplexer uses a simple two-conductor cable to transmit all commands.
Its highly accurate and purely analog signal is safe to use with video and other sensitive
equipment. It can be used with RF and Microwave Modules and can power an Arri high speed base.
It can interface with digital systems. One transmitter can run two or more heads, and vice versa.
Normal 50 ohm coax cable can be used in lengths up to five miles.
